François Mazabraud

Daily news inspires François Mazabraud yet geopolitics and power stakes are another specific motivation. In trying to “provoke an alternate relationship between media and spectators,“ he creates unique pieces that also invite consideration and participation. Mazabraud’s sculptural approach attaches importance to questions of representation, the scale of the work and the viewer’s perspective.
Each piece usually has several meanings that sometimes appear contradictory as the viewer moves around the installation. If everything is made to let the viewer to interrogate himself through a partici- pative scenography, François Mazabraud does not want his pieces to be interactive. Here, the artwork is not restrictive. It allows movements that contribute to give attention to some details and encourage new astonish forms to emerge.
